SJC Nights Update
« on: October 20, 2012, 01:58:04 pm »
Finally, I've decided to cancel the SJC server. So we will migrate, or.... we will migrate  :D

So, we have until the day 30-31 to take a decision about where will be hosted the new one. That date the server will be shutdown.

I will be setting 2-3 servers with the same configuration, and I hope you will give me some feedback about how you feel them. Hopefully I will get all done this night and I will post here the new addresses to try.

UPDATE

I've configured one instance in the same server where the Dressing Room server is hosted

KANSAS CITY

142.54.178.174:27960

Let's see how it goes in the next week.

UPDATE 2

A new server is available at LA, where the Algiers one is

LOS ANGELES

69.85.93.51:27962

I was trying to run another instance in another west coast server yesterday in the night. But apparently that other guys seems to be attracting DoS attacks, and  the server was offline some hours before I was able to do something u_u lol

Atlantic coast of Canada actually.  UK is slightly closer than California for me!  Probably about halfway between LA and Frankfurt.

I was at BeastCoast last night when they too were hit by a DOS attack.

Muahahahaha...  :P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

(excerpt from en.wiki):
In the Police and Justice Act 2006, the United Kingdom specifically outlawed denial-of-service attacks and set a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.[28]
In the US, there can be a serious federal crime under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act with penalties that include years of imprisonment. Many other countries have similar laws.[29]

Hehe... LOIC :P

By the way buddies, I want ot ask you if the SJC server got better.

I am in "vacation" (kinda but not lol), so I wasn't able to tell you....

The provider staff was cool contacting me to try to solve the network issues despite the already set cancellation request.
So, they moved me to a new node, and I want to know if this has helped or not.

As far as I know it still has the same issues in the most of the day. Personally, this hasn't solved nothing =/

Finally, I have some days 2-3 to remove the cancellation request if necessary, and I want to know your experiences.

Pretty much the same for me. There are still a few CI's and lag issues during the day  :(
It is better to step on your nade "accidently" than to let it blow up in your hand.

Anyone else?
I have still a couple of days to decide.
If someone can compare with the Algiers LA, which AFAIK is working fine?

Kansas:
Ping statistics for 142.54.178.174:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 222ms, Maximum = 251ms, Average = 232ms

LA:
Ping statistics for 69.85.93.51:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 191ms, Maximum = 192ms, Average = 191ms

Over all, I find LA better than SJC.

Nuff said.  ;D

For what it's worth I was on SJC last night.  The CIs were less frequent than they used to be, but they were quite severe when they did occur.  Seemed to last for several seconds.
The reverend don't tell me his business, so I don't see any reason to tell him mine.
