@Kagh
Most of these won't happen for the lack of bot support.
Prague was active some time ago, but apparently most people hate it.

@Rorik, I will check some of these maps =)

I think Uptown needs to go.

I do have a some suggetions:

Casa
Turnpike
ut4_abbeyctf
Mandolin
Thingley
ut4_oildepot
Swim
Elgin
Kingdom
ut4_granja

and a couple more you might wanna consider?

ut4_offshore
Ramelle
ut4_tunis
Prague
Toxic
Ambush
Crossing
ut4_shahideen
ut4_maya

I would LOVE to see granja in the rotation.  Haven't played it since wTf used to run it.

I also like Kingdom, as well as Casa, Swim, or Elgin.  I DISLIKE ambush, ramelle, and crossing.

Also Ramelle, for some players is hard on their system.

http://www.urbanterror.info/forums/topic/6906-running-bots-in-ut4/

Quote
Not every map in UT4 has bot support, the following do, sort of -

 Abbey
 Algiers
 Austria
 Dressing room
 Firing Range
 Mandolin *
 Riyadh
 Prague*
 Toxic*
 Uptown

That list is incomplete, but gives you an idea of the limitations that iPWN is facing when choosing maps.  Pretty much those maps plus Sanctuary and Subway are the only ones that will support bots, if I am not mistaken.  And note that Uptown and Prague really don't support bots either.  Not sure about the issues with Toxic, though.  I know Mandolin can work, but it may be that bots get stuck on the beach, I'm not sure.  Presumably no one is going to want Dressing Room of Firing Range.  So a practical list looks something like:

 Abbey
 Algiers
 Austria
 Mandolin *
 Riyadh
 Toxic*
 Sanctuary
 Subway

Lack of bot support must be a real pain to those who actually run servers.
The reverend don't tell me his business, so I don't see any reason to tell him mine.

I'd be content if we could just do these with the short time format and the scrolling rules:

 Abbey
 Algiers
 Austria
 Riyadh
 Sanctuary
 Subway

I was wondering why you feel the necessity to use bots anyway,if the server is at his max of 32 players with the presence of those bots it excludes players who has to wait for someone to quit or a cycle.

TLWS LA Nights is often empty or has one or two players whenever I stop by.  I don't know which server you're talking about, but most TDM servers cannot survive without bots.  People complain about them, but nobody joins an empty server.

But yes, if the server is close to full capacity 24/7, bots may be unnecessary.

(Also, just to clarify, I'm only an admin (and barely an admin at that), these are all iPWN's decisions and concerns.)

Yes, I like the current maps and time limits very much.  Subway would be a bonus, but I get the impression iPWN is not a fan.

Yes, I will try again that min_players, like at dressing room. But doing this can have 2 issues
- More probability to crash
- Bots joining automatically with weird names and weird equipment =) (This can be fixed with some work directly at the bot files, but I don't want to mess with this too much)

(Also, just to clarify, I'm only an admin (and barely an admin at that), these are all iPWN's decisions and concerns.)

Thanks, but the servers are not only mine, but yours. The lack of time is always my problem here.

I love subway, but I am not completely sure if that map is 100% stable, and if the bots will work fine.

I will try "subway", and maybe "dust". If is stable, I will put them in the cycle.

And, as an extra comment, I've joined a funny server with customizations from a clan called KRH. The server was called "Mission impossible". They have rebuild some maps to fully support bots.
I wonder if we can use them. Someone knows this clan?

I've played Subway a fair bit the last few months on OK|TDM BeastCoast with bots. Never seen it crash.

Agreed, subway is stable with bots at beastcoast.  Not my fave map.  While I don't HATE it, it does have a lot of choke points for the campers :/

On another note, I know that it is possible to set up two map rotations, one with bots and one without, and have it automatically change rotations based on the number of players.  I've seen this at a number of servers, (the former CGS comes to mind, and I think PPA did as well at the end) but haven't set it up myself...

This gives you the best of both worlds.  The stupid bots are gone and you have access to different maps, but if the numbers drop it brings them back and changes the rotation, so no crashes or empty server.

I am confident that Subway is stable, as I've played it many many times with bots.  I've played Dust with bots as well, just not as much.  I don't know the KRH clan, but here is their website for anyone interested:

Rambetter did this as well.  But my (limited) understanding is that it is not trivial to setup properly.  I've never seen any documentation on how to do this.

The demise of uptown at the hands of bots is the biggest tragedy in the declining popularity of UrT.

Rambetter did this as well.  But my (limited) understanding is that it is not trivial to setup properly.  I've never seen any documentation on how to do this.

Essentially you make up 3 map rotation files. smallmap mediummap and largemap.

You then use a b3 plugin and specify an upper and lower player value for each of the above rotation. This way B3 knows at what point as numbers climb to switch to the next rotation and at which point as numbers decline to switch back down again.

It's not an earth shaking job to make it work assuming it alll works as advertised but it doesn't or didn't work out of the box last time I checked. It may well do now. The last point I played with it which was around B3 1.14 or there abouts there were several script errors you had to track down and fix for it to work and several configs to edit. I'm pretty sure it with a plugin called "poweradmin" or similar. Sorry to be less than specific but it's been a while.

I only ever played with it to DISABLE the function after installing the plugin for some of it's other features and how it would effect your ability to script manage the amount of bots I don't know.

The only way for me to be sure would be to restore an image on my one remaining machine from my old hosting lineup. As I hosted under windows there may be differences also as IPWN uses nix I believe.

Hay,

UPDATE 4 Jan 2013

Some comments? :D

I think it's the time to make a 4.2 server if you can :D
