USA servers shutdown
« on: June 25, 2014, 03:03:51 pm »
These maybe are sad news for some people, or the remaining players at the USA servers.

Due to the lack of population at the USA servers, and other reasons (mostly lack of time and provider issues) I've decided to shutdown all of them. This includes Algiers, UrT Nights, Dressing Room and the Team Survivor server. This was predictable, since most people is going to 4.2 now.

Sooner than later, probably I will be running a new instance(s) of the game at Singapore or maybe somewhere at Europe or Dallas, but most probably these will be 4.2 ones to see if we can keep it up with the flow of the players.

The shutdown will be around this weekend.

Note: The Germany Server will remain untouched.

Hi ipwn,

for sure Algiers server and UrT Nights are the servers with really less players last weeks or months (mostly empty).
Dressingroom you can see more ppl playing. I did some bigtext there to inform some of them about the shutdown.

Indeed, Dressingroom still has players. I can consider moving it to another location (USA too most probably), maybe if I get some spare time this weekend I will run it somewhere else and inform the players of the new server via b3.

Yep, sorry. But maybe soon you will have something in Asia which probably (and just probably because the Asia routing REALLY sucks) will get you better latency.

Update.

New Dallas Dressing Room server at
dallas.tlws.org:1414 or 162.251.114.75:1414

Sorry for the port number, but I can't do any better at this moment.

It will appear in the master list as TLWS Dressing Room DALLAS

This one will substitute the current instance running at Kansas City.

Thanks for reading

Final update about this.

The USA servers have been shutdown, and as my previous post says, there is a new Dressing Room instance. Sorry for the quick shutdown, but I just got some spare time to do this tasks.

The current list of servers is published here http://forum.tlws.org/announcements-anuncios/current-servers-at-tlws/ as always

Hopefully, soon we will have news for the asian instance.

Hi ipwn,

can it be that the new Dressingroom Server is not possible to find at master.quake3.com server list?

Thanks

Yep, someone has an "SWLT" server. I've seen it since some months ago. And I think isn't a coincidence hehe. No idea to be honest.

And indeed, the server isn't showing in the list =/

Well, I've tried several configurations but still isn't showing. I am thinking in two possibilities:
- The network configuration isn't "suitable" to the master list.
- The low port (1414) isn't ok for the master list.

None of these can be fixed, so, probably I should run this in another server =(

By the way, you can see the tlws servers here

http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?search=tlws

Apparently this site uses the master lists in real time.

But that's because you are in the "Favorites" section. I also have it, but it doesn't appear in the "Internet" section

I want to update people (if someone excluding the staff read this) about this Dressing Room mess... And sorry if this is a little bit technical.

TL/DR: There is no Dressing Room at USA for the moment.

As you guess, most servers have been hosted in Virtual Machines. Particularly the provider that I chosed for the Dressing Room replacement had a pretty cheap offer, but with some downsides:
- No personal IP address. Just a set of specific IPV4 ports forwarded to the Virtual machine
- Several IPV6 addresses.

That's why I was able to setup a server, but in a custom port, and not the 27960 standard for the game.

The big issue here, is the physical node network configuration. After doing some research, I found this: their outgoing traffic uses one IP, and the incoming uses another. This translated in the quake 3 master list don't listing the server, because the game "pings" the list with one IP, and the game is really hosted in the other IP.

According to the staff, probably this will be solved soon, moving all the traffic to a single IP. But in the meanwhile, is broken.

Extra note. If you search in the master list, maybe you will find some test instances located in weird parts of the world n_n

Hello, long time no see you!
Yes, unfortunately it's gone. Probably I will rerun it again. But currently there is only the Germany server running.

Anyway, here you can find instructions to change your master server to the Quake one: http://forum.tlws.org/announcements-anuncios/urban-terror-4-1-faq/
With that, the servers will appear again.

I think it could work. There seem to be a lot more people playing 4.2 nowadays... Also 4.2 doesn't seem that bad anymore, well the animations are still a little cheesy but nothing like they were when it first launched.
