Ikalizer Audio Engine
« on: March 03, 2011, 12:39:13 pm »
Download here: www.anpclan.com (then click downloads link to the right).  This is my main clan site, the files here are safe.

1) Browse the archive package and do the following:

a) Copy ikalizer.aei and iourbanterror.exe to your main URT install folder (c:\Programfiles\URT) or wherever you installed.  This will ask you if you want to replace iourbanterror.exe, which you want to do.

b) Copy the folder q3ut4\iqs from the archive to your q3ut4 install folder (c:\Programfiles\URT\q3ut4) or wherever you installed.

2) Launch URT and perform the following console command:

/s_useIkalizer 1

3) Shut down URT and restart it.  Once restarted, execute the following console command:

/ikalizer_LimiterLevel  3

- This boosts the ambient noises to the max that ikalizer allows.  Footsteps, breathing, reloading, etc

For more settings and configs, see: http://www.ikalizer.com/

Enjoy,
Haus

btw I been using this all day and havent noticed any difference, I think because I've been sniping.

I think if I were to play like i normally do and use ak103 and run around I would hear people sooner, but you still have to figure out where the sound is coming from :P

Do you enabled the engine? s_useIkalizer 1 ?

When you start the game, the console says some messages about Ikalizer. If that isn't the case, something is bad. And, if you downloaded the "big" package (~21MB) and you have the same sounds, something is bad too.

First post corrected, I just assumed the main ikalizer site would have it.  Didn't want to shamelessly promote my clan site.

btw I been using this all day and havent noticed any difference, I think because I've been sniping.

I suspect it isn't working properly, you would notice a massive difference as soon as someone set a grenade off anywhere near you.

As for figuring out where the sound is coming from, headphones.  I cannot stress this factor enough.  When I play over my 5.1, I have a harder time telling where the noises are coming from.  With headphones, I'm like, some is healing someone just around the corner - KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL, etc.

humm....tech stuff...*runs and waits till it has a simple download*

The guys who make ikalizer I think are in on integrating it into 4.2, but no simplified package will be released for URT 4.1.  I cleaned up the main post to make it more straight forward, but this is definitely worth a try to get it going smg.

I think some good pc speakers make it too. :) Like my 'Trust 1000P Soundforce'. Ok, it's not available anymore. But here is a link anyway: http://www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?artnr=12616

This speakers have a button for 3D sound output. If you place the smaller two right, you can hear everything. :D They weren't expensive. Only 15 Euro (in germany... should be like 20 us-dollar) at woolworth. Maybe they have similar products this year... Take a look if there is one in your town.

I'm glad with it. :) Software doesn't make it better if your speaker sucks. xD

1. Ikalizer nades sound like firecrackers
2. It's windows only
3. Not yet 64-bit compatible (Methinks)
4. ...more to come

1. If you use the custom sounds package of Ikalizer, yes, it sucks. Just get  rid of it and only use the custom executable.
2. Yes is windows, but maybe wine can handle it
3. You dont need a 64 bits executable, absolutely no gain for this application. (indeed, almost every game doesn't have a 64 bits binary).

Gold! thankyou!

The mitshu 32bit bumby .exe has been my fav for a while.
Although I did have problems until I set /sysMicroGranularity to 0
This seemed to fix crashes and noclip when entering servers.
